Lunch Date

Some daddy-daughter time at school.  Jeff took part of his day off to have lunch (@10:30 a.m.) with Kate where they fine dined on corn dogs with fixings.

Intro to Somerset Soccer '09

After some coaxing the girls got excited that we signed them up for soccer.  I think purchasing a hot pink soccer ball sealed the deal.  We had our first practice and game which was a lot like watching chickens being herded between two nets.  However, the chickens were wearing red or white chasing a white and black object around a field.

Coach Garry giving Team 1 some inspiration before the start of the game.

Anna following the ball to the goal.  Who knows if it went to the right net!

Who said this sport wasn't a little like football...

Run Anna run!

Kate getting a chance to kick the ball out for play.

There is a lot of action following a ball around a field.

Like I said, herding chickens....

Concentrate Anna!

Here we go again in the other direction.

Yep, she already looks professional.  Anna even scored a goal...for the other team.  I don't think we have future David Beckhams but definitely a love for our new soccer uniforms.  Kate has worn hers to bed all week.

Easter 2009

Well mom was pretty much out of commission with a gross cold for Easter egg dying this year so dad took over and the girls had a lot of fun.  They couldn't wait to dye their OWN eggs!

After a great service at church we stopped over to see Grandma Joyce and wish her Happy Easter.  Everyone say, "I love chocolate bunnies!"

Then we came home to have a traditional Easter lunch with ham and all the fixings.  Our guests were Aunt Merry and cousin Sheila (and a couple of chocolate bunnies and jelly beans).

Crazy Hair

When daddy spends a week away on business I let the girls run the house...or, I take them to the school carnival and let them get crazy hair for daddy to wash out when he gets home.

Why not have personalities to match the hair??  Actually, this is how I felt by the end of the week with a sick kid, a sick dog and no energy to be a mom.

Sustainable Living 101

We do live in the country but we aren't living off the land (yet).  As part of our simple/frugal living plan this year I decided to get my hands dirty (literally).   I planted my own flower and herb seeds so we'll see if we get any savings in the pocketbook or delightful fragrant meals seasoned with fresh herbs.  And, there is a sweet fragrance coming from the compost bin too.  I can't believe how much food waste we were throwing away to go into the land fills! The compost is just waiting for it's companion...red wriggle worms to turn the waste into gold!  Yes, this house is going gorgeously green!

Pea Pods Anyone?

Kate:  Mommy, when are you going to make my pea pods for dinner?
Mommy:  Um, we can't eat those pea pods.  Those are not for humans to eat.  Only animals and birds can eat those.
Kate:  Oh.
