Mother's Day '09

Need I say more?  Dandelions and an American Girl box full of "treasures."  Kate and Anna, you make every Mother's Day special.  I am so proud and blessed to be your mom!

Career Day: Kindergarten Style

Somerset Elementary held a career fair to expose and educate the students about the variety of professions they may pursue some day.  Selected parents came in to talk about what they did to each of the five Kindergarten classrooms...that's over 125 students.  Jeff spoke in Kate's class and talked about his job and what classes he took in school and college.  The kids were very interested in the heart model and wanted the free key chain.

Grandpa Bones & Uncle Tom's Visit

During the first week of May the Bartig B&B entertained Grandpa Bones and Uncle Tom.  There was a lot of good food prepared and eaten, shopping completed, games played, turkey hunting (and defeathering) and many good laughs...mostly at the expense of Grandpa.

Little did Uncle Tom know that he would get waken up by a 5 year old and have to play games before 10 a.m.  Sometimes you don't argue with a determined young girl!

Chef Bartig doing his thing while Sara stood in awe...preparing mis en plance!

Mushroom Risotto anyone?

Preparing Ina Garten's Apple Puffed Pastry...the apples are going the wrong way Uncle Tom!

Dinner is served...thank you Uncle Tom!  We got our dairy serving for the day via cream and butter.

Enjoying our meal on the porch...nice atmosphere, great food and wonderful company...

Yum, dessert!  Ina would be proud!

The hunters are off...

How do you turkey hunt through the inside of your eyelids?  I think the big one got away!

Trophy picture...Grandpa looks like he is ready to sprint to the turkey fryer.

A little down time with Grandpa Bones...Anna reading her classroom books to Grandpa.

Celebrating (a little early) Uncle Tom's speed limit birthday...55.

Breakfast with Grandpa...coffee and danish.

Note to self:  buy A LOT of milk when Grandpa and Uncle Tom come!  They need to have their own milk mustache commercial!

Anna's Jr. Kindergarten Program

Anna and all the Jr. Kindergarten classes put on a morning program commemorating their year of learning, exploring and of course singing.

Anna sang all of her songs proudly and with enthusiasm.

After the program the kids spent a little time in their classroom.  Anna and her buddy Torsten hanging out in the playhouse.
