Summer Goodness

making the time to RELAX and read

Anna:  "Ahhhh, it feels like I am at the beach!"

Summer Has Arrived!

summer has arrived...
these beautiful, fresh and organic berries are straight from our garden
we're thinking...
strawberry shortcake
strawberry pie
homemade strawberry ice cream
strawberry poppy seed salad
strawberries dipped in chocolate
strawberries with balsamic vinegar & sugar
Sweet. Red. Awesomeness.

Summer so far...

summer is in full swing
projects, disagreeing,
dirty fingers & toes,
popsicles
dinners on the porch
sleeping in (kind of)
imaginative play
summer reading
summer school
strep throat
The Karate Kid
dance practice
camping
sandbox play
gardening
and we're only at day 11

Planting Our Garden

We're attempting to pare down our garden this summer but still hoping for a bounty of great organic produce right at our (dirty) fingertips.

Summer Blooms

I heart my peonies!

A Birthday Celebration

Happy 38th Birthday Jeff!

A Note From My Daughter

Quirks. There are a lot of them in our house between the four of us including the pets. Since we have had it with the dinner time battles a decision was made that a chart would be a good idea to earn a certain something. I would like to call the chart "An Aspiring Foodie" and the girls would earn palate points. Anna was fine with mom making one on her computer in less than 5 minutes. It was discussed and pinned on the bulletin board. Kate had other ideas and insisted on devising her own chart. This is what she left me before she went to bed...

Love the arrow...good attention getter!

The note states, "peses make sure my chorte is fine."
~I absolutely LOVE inventive spelling!

Categories: mete/Eat stacke, vetbus/Eat carits, Frut/Eat it! appel, green appel, and Eat evry thing! The latter category was changed to "no complaining."

Day 3 into the Aspiring Foodie Chart and life at the dinner table is divine! However, there have been a lot of discussions as what constitutes a complaint...

Last Day of School 2010

Last day of school 2010. We no longer have a Kindergartner or a First Grader...it's official...we now have a Second and First Grader. Where did the year go? We have two readers and writers. They are more independent thinkers. Another year closer to leaving the nest. Definitely they are taller (and a little sassier). They can write sentences, add and subtract and count by 10's! Our little peanuts are growing into young ladies...okay, we need to celebrate a little bit...rainbow style!

Hello Rainbow cupcakes! A little time consuming but totally worth the effort to see the excitement from the girls!

Miss Evie needed a little appreciation too! A-la Cupcake in a Jar!

Now it's time to think about the summer and creating harmony with a sprinkle of simplicity.
